UMM Hospital Embarks Improvement Action of Muhammadiyah

University of Muhammadiyah Malang took the 68th Independence Day momentum to be more special. Usually, it was celebrated with a ceremony and some unique contests. However in this year, the day was become the historical moment for the soft launching of UMM Hospital at Saturday (17/08).

The event was held in the yard of UMM Hospital at Raya Tlogomas street, Malang. It was also joined with Halal bi Halal (gathering event) for the big family of the lecturers and employees of UMM. The invitees were Dr Haedar Nashir as the head of PP Muhammadiyah, Prof HA Malik Fadjar as the head of daily builder or Badan Pembina Harian (BPH), Siti Noordjanah as the head of PP Aisyiyah, Maj. (pur) Muchdi PR as member of BPH, Dr Thohir Luth as the head of PP Muhammadiyah in East Java Region, and also the heads of UMM and UMM Hospital.

               

To embark the starting of the operation, the hospital prepared free treatment for general clinic, emergency departments (IGD), and also pregnancy, surgical, eyes, ear, children, internal medicine, nerve, skin, and teeth for a week.  

                Muhadjir Effendy as the rector chose the Independence Day moment in order to make it easier to remember. However, he admitted that the hospital services still can be operated in 70%. It will be developed until the grand opening which is planned to be held together with Milad Muhammadiyah on November. “Later, all of specialists’ treatments will be provided included cardiac surgery. It will be also equipped with psychology laboratory for drug addiction and treatment for disable,” Muhadjir said. 

                The hospital has splendid and luxurious building in 9 hectares land. Moreover, it is also supported with the lastest technology equipments. There are around 112 beds from 250 beds will be operated in the soft launching.

In another side, the hospital also provides VIP and VVIP in 5th floor with the different design in each of the room. The environment is designed with the not-hospital-feel landscape and equipped with cafe and the open green wide room.

However, the rector said that the services rate is using the standard in Malang with the services are a level above. “For the example, hospitalization in III class is equal to II class with wider room and modern bed,”he explained. It is possible because the rate in UMM Hospital used cross-subsidy concept.

                Prof HA Malik Fadjar said that the UMM Hospital is more than usual hospital. It also became the inseparable action from the Muhammadiyah struggle in serving the people. Muhammadiyah as the dream of the founder KH Ahmad Dahlan has the tauhid strong basic which later has been realized on the endless dedication from the years.

               

“Education and health things are no end. It is just about one moving step to the further step, and so on. This hospital is one of those historical steps of Muhammadiyah,”Malik said.  

                The same things are also expressed by Haedar Nashir. He agreed that the hospital has been through long process as the part of Muhammadiyah efforts.

“The realization of this hospital is one of the Muhammadiyah’s improvement level markers in order to prove Muhammadiyah can change society with less talk,” Haedar said.

After speeches and vocal groups performances from lecturer, students, and the hospital’s doctors, the event was continued with the releasing of red and white balloons by Siti Noordjanah as the head of PP Aisyiyah and the wife of rector UMM, Suryan Widati. Malik Fadjar was honored to cut the jasmine arrangements in front of the main lobby. The VIP guests registered themselves immediately to obtain the hospital treatment card by showing the id card (KTP) and paying for Rp 10.000,-. (nasrullah/t_iqa)
